I'm impressed with the conviction Kailash and Clare have for the NHS. They are true leaders and should be recognised as such by all. So I agree with the calls that both deserve this accolade.

I nominated Kailash before having to make a choice. It was an extremely hard decision between Clare and Kailash, but as nominator of Kailash, I'm sure Clare understands!

Clare and Kailash both are respected & well thought personalities in the Medical politics. Both very strongly urging Lansley to withdraw the Health Bill.Majority of votes cast for them indicte how medical profession too would like the bill to be droped too.

Both Kailash and Clare have stood up for the General Practice and therefore I support the idea that they be declared the joint winners!

Many thanks to any of you that voted for me. I agree, Kailash has worked tirelessly for our profession as well - and will gladly share the spoils with him (depends though if there are girly things in the hamper I might keep for myself).
Its been a difficult year - and when you watch the press (Pulse excepted!), you see how they twist, and turn and distort stories about the NHS and in particular about general practitioners to portray us in a negative light. GPs do an amazing job - we make the NHS safe, effective and kinder. The NHS need more of us - able to spend longer with our patients and communities and with longer training. It is my job to support our profession - there are enough out there who will be happy to take pops at us - but this does not mean that I think we can't do better - of course we can. However, I understand its tough out there. Work load is increasing, patients more complicated and the financial cuts are beginning to kick in.

What ever this year brings, we need to make sure we continue to provide excellent care, let every contact count - this means to me, to make sure patients leave our consulting rooms having felt that they had their problems heard, in a sensitive and professional way and that the GP was kind to them.
Simple really.
Happy new year
Thanks for all your support over the year
Looking forward to 2012

How typical of GPs to vote for the comfort zone! Never mind! One swat of the government brush will show all the warm feelings to be pointless. Outright opposition never achieves much with government. Creative influence does. Organisational Donkey awards please to the same frontrunners.
