Pulse sweeps up at journalism talent awards

Pulse journalists won two gongs and one highly-commended at last night’s Talent Awards, organised by the British Society of Magazine Editors.

Pulse deputy editor Sofia Lind was awarded deputy editor of the year – and was one of six winners put forward for the most prestigious judges’ award.

Meanwhile, Pulse investigations editor Rachel Carter won best writer (B2B) for her work on hard-hitting GP investigations over the past year.

Clinical editor Caroline Price was highly commended in a very strong field for section editor/team of the year, for her work across all of Cogora’s titles.

For Sofia’s award win, the judges noted that this ‘in a hotly contested category, Sofia stood out’.

‘Clearly an editor in waiting, she inspires colleagues and, whether it is breaking news or growing social media reach, she is a journalist who leads by example. Sofia has a long career as an editor in front of her – and our judges are confident it will be a successful one,’ they said.

Meanwhile, the judges said Rachel ‘has been chosen for her impactful investigative journalism’.

‘Her ability to gather personal stories has made a significant impact, whilst her contributions have kept the public informed during a time of immense change.’

And they said: ‘Caroline’s commitment and dedication to her work is undeniable. Single-handedly working across five brands, her ability to maintain exceptional quality and drive positive results is to be commended. She is an asset to the team.’

Commenting on the awards, Pulse editor Jaimie Kaffash said: ‘I am lucky enough to work with a fantastic team, and these awards are a wonderful acknowledgement for their work.

‘What is most pleasing to me is that all the areas we work on are covered: our unrivalled GP news coverage, our hard-hitting investigations and our practical clinical advice, along with our views and opinions pages.

‘Sofia, Rachel and Caroline absolutely deserve these accolades, but they are also just reward for the whole team.’

Among other recent awards for Pulse’s news team, Jaimie won Editor of the Year (business media) at last year’s prestigious PPA Awards.
