GPC England chair among speakers as Pulse LIVE London kicks off

Pulse LIVE is taking place in London today and tomorrow, including a keynote speech from the chair of the BMA’s GP Committee for England.

Dr Katie Bramall-Stainer’s keynote tomorrow, titled ‘Time’s Up’, comes just before the close of GPC England’s referendum which has asked GPs whether they accept the Government and NHS England’s 2024/25 contract.

Depending on the results of this referendum, the BMA is planning for ‘potential’ GP industrial action later in the year.

Today, Pulse LIVE – which also has a jam-packed schedule of clinical content – will close with a discussion on whether general practice has moved from a recruitment crisis to a retention crisis.

The plenary includes National Association of Sessional GP (NASGP) chair Dr Richard Fieldhouse, RCGP vice chair for external affairs Dr Victoria Tzortziou-Brown, and the GPCUK’s sessional committee deputy chair Dr Venothan Suri.

Also speaking at the event in the Novotel London West in Hammersmith will be GPCE deputy chair Dr Samira Anane, on the topic of the BMA’s safe working guidance, which recommends GPs see no more than 25 patient contacts per day.

Attendees at Pulse LIVE will receive eight hours’ worth of CPD on clinical topics such as managing heart failure, overdiagnosis, long Covid, and vitamin B12 deficiency.

Pulse deputy editor Sofia Lind said: ‘Pulse LIVE is a fantastic opportunity for grassroots GPs to come together and share ideas. The programme is packed full with the latest clinical updates and career development workshops, as well as timely policy updates from high-profile GP leaders.’
