Scottish health secretary Neil Gray will give a remote address directly to GPs at the free-to-attend Pulse LIVE conference in Glasgow later this month (23 October).

In addition, amid a jam-packed schedule of clinical learning, Professor Stewart Mercer will attend to talk conference delegates through how health inequalities manifest in general practice consultations and what we can do about them.

The professor of primary care and multimorbidity at the University of Edinburgh is a founding member of the Scottish Deep End Project, which has since grown into an international movement.

Amid clinical content, which amounts to 4.5 CPD hours, expert clinicians will take Pulse LIVE Glasgow delegates through key updates in the areas of type 2 diabetes; metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD); HRT; chronic pain; nutrition and weight management in pregnancy; as well as thrombocytosis and cancer risk.

The Pulse in Focus podcast will also be recording live from the event and the team is hoping to meet as many GPs as possible for their take on the state of general practice in Scotland.

Pulse editor Sofia Lind, who will also attend the conference, said: ‘I’m excited to be travelling to Pulse LIVE Glasgow later this month to hear from the health secretary, but more importantly GPs on the ground practising in Scotland in 2025. I also can’t wait to hear from Professor Mercer about the impact of treating patients in deprived areas with health inequalities in mind.

‘It is looking sure to be a jam-packed day and if you are a GP or GP trainee, I can’t wait to see you there.’

The event takes place on Thursday 23 October at the Scottish Events Centre (SEC) in Glasgow and is free to attend.

Other upcoming Pulse LIVE events before the end of the year include Pulse LIVE Belfast on 6 November and Pulse LIVE Liverpool on 18 November.
