Pulse editor in chief wins prestigious award for work on access and recruitment

Pulse editor-in-chief Jaimie Kaffash was named ‘innovator of the year’ at the prestigious British Society of Magazine Editors awards in London last week.

He won the award for his work on the white papers on access and workforce, which were both launched this year.

The white paper on recruitment was launched in Parliament in January, and sought to explain how general practice is facing a simultaneous recruitment crisis, with practices needing more GPs, and an unemployment crisis, with GPs out of work. The paper was very well received and was raised as part of contract negotiations this year.

The access report was launched at a fringe event at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this year, attended by GP profession leaders and MPs.

Jaimie has also launched Cogora Insight, a division of Pulse’s publishers, which produces reports based on government spending, such as local enhanced services.

The judges said: ‘Since taking on the role of Editor-in-Chief of Pulse in November 2024, Jaimie Kaffash has turbocharged the brand, launching new, highly profitable brand extensions. His monetisation of investigative journalism through sponsored white papers and the sale of granular data to clients demonstrates brilliant creativity and innovation without ever compromising editorial integrity.’

This is the latest in a string of awards for Pulse. This year, Pulse’s Senior Features and Audio Journalist Maya Dhillon won ‘unsung hero’ of the year at the BSME Talent awards, following Pulse winning B2B writer of the year and Best Use of Data Journalism at the previous year’s awards.

Jaimie has previously won editor of the year at the BSMEs, the Professional Publishers’ Association and the Medical Journalists Association.

Perhaps he can sort out the access to the website now, so we don’t have to repetitively log in and end up on the unitended page when you do.
