NEW ENTRY
The professor of public health research and policy at Queen Mary, University of London, is a well-known critic of the private finance initiative and private sector involvement in the health service. This year, she published research looking at the evidence behind the Government's claims for their reforms and found it wanting. As one of our panel puts it: ‘For over 20 years [she] has provided us with the evidence around NHS policies and practices. She is always in the background and leads from behind.'
