Yorkshireman Dr Paul Charlson has an extensive CV – portfolio GP/GPSI, dermatologist and aesthetic doctor at a private clinic and strategic medical director of One Medicare Group.
But it is the entrepreneur’s role as vice-chair of Conservative Health that earns him a prime position advising on policy debates in Tory circles.
This year, he has spoken in support of extended access, warned there could be more private providers stepping in as practices close and urged GPs to be aware that their roles are likely to change in the coming years.
And with the general election approaching, we are likely to see Dr Charlson’s influence grow.
