30 – Professor Amanda Howe

Professor Amanda Howe is a GP in Norwich, professor of primary care at the University of East Anglia and honorary secretary of the RCGP.

But far from taking a back-seat role, she helped write the college's fiery response to the NHS reforms.

As chair of the WONCA working party for women in family medicine, she has argued that women still face barriers in the medical profession.

Her research interests include primary care mental health and professional development.
