New joint GP and pharmacy conference to explore how technology can aid collaboration
The key programme themes have been announced for a new conference that aims to bring general practice and community pharmacy together for collaboration.
One of the streams will focus on how technology – including AI – can help GPs and pharmacists to collaborate.
Launched by Pulse’s publisher Cogora – in partnership with the National Pharmacy Association (NPA) – the Community Pharmacy and General Practice Conference will bring over 1,000 primary care professionals together.
Focused on neighbourhood health and taking place at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham on 21–22 June, GPs, practice managers, community pharmacists, nurses, PCN and ICB leaders are invited the free, CPD-accredited event to discuss collaboration needed amid 10-year health plan ambitions.
GPs can register for free here.
Each conference day will open and close with plenary sessions, bringing the whole audience together.
Alongside the plenaries, parallel sessions will run across three conference rooms, delivering practical, case-based learning structured around five key programme themes:
- Collaboration in action will showcase real-world examples of partnership working between community pharmacy and general practice, highlighting clinically and financially sustainable models across medicines optimisation, vaccinations, long-term conditions and neighbourhood health pilots.
- Business and service innovation will explore how better-coordinated services can reduce duplication, improve access and free up GP capacity, with a focus on Pharmacy First, New Medicines Services, pharmacy-led care pathways and emerging prescribing roles.
- Leadership and workforce will support primary care professionals to build the leadership, advocacy and negotiation skills needed to influence decision-making, diversify services and develop portfolio careers across sectors.
- Technology and AI for integration will examine how digital tools and AI can enable real-time collaboration across primary care, addressing interoperability, shared records, referrals and digital access to community pharmacy services.
- Clinical skills and knowledge boost will deliver concise clinical updates and practical workshops across priority therapy areas including respiratory care, weight management, allergy, insomnia, gastroenterology and women’s health, supporting practice-ready learning for the wider multidisciplinary team.
In addition, the programme will include a GP Pharmacy in Focus with the Primary Care Pharmacy Association, National Pharmacy Association Members’ Forum, and a dedicated Networking Zone running throughout both days of the conference.
Worth 10 CPD points, the Community Pharmacy and General Practice Conference is free to attend and designed to support practical collaboration across primary care.
