LMCs call for PR drive against Summary Care Record
03 Jun 08
LMCs are calling on the BMA to launch a publicity campaign highlighting the threat to patient confidentiality posed by electronic care records.
The proposal came as 29 separate care records motions were submitted to next week’s LMCs conference in London, which will debate whether to scrap the idea of centrally-held records ‘in view of the Government’s unparalleled reputation for not being able to store records safely.’
The motions follow a rocky few months for the Summary Care Record roll-out, which has been hit by GPs pulling out of the project, software delays and criticism of its consent model.
